New Mixxx beta out 1.10.0

I will be developing a new TouchOSC template to take advantage of the new features really soon and I will also update the old Mixxx template to work on this new Mixxx. So stay tuned..

Mixxx is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

Mixxx 1.10.0 Beta brings several hard-hitting features that are the culmination of a year's worth of work by the development team.

What we're packing in Mixxx 1.10.0 Beta:

  • Rewritten and Improved Vinyl Control Support

  • Completely rewritten vinyl-style pitch-bending for clean, analog-like sound.

  • Absolute, relative, and constant vinyl modes.

  • Rock-solid support for Serato Vinyl/CD or Traktor Vinyl at 33 or 45 RPM.

  • Single-deck Vinyl Control

  • End-of-record Mode

  • Improved needle skip prevention.

  • Can use different vinyl types on each deck!

  • Improved audio quality when scratching.

  • Support for track selection using the lead-in area of the vinyl and needle-drop hotcues.

  • Track lead-in for scratching before the start of songs.

  • Waveform smoothing to prevent wobbly waveforms.

  • New built-in vinyl signal analyzer.

  • 4 Sampler Decks

  • Beatloops, Loop Halve/Double Buttons

  • Handy beatloop buttons let you quickly throw down an 8-beat loop as you transition from one song to the next.

  • Quantized Loops, Hotcues and Beatloops

  • Turn on quantization mode for a deck and all of your loops, hotcues, and beatloops will snap to the nearest beat when you place them.

  • Phase Synchronization

  • Sync button now synchronizes both the BPM and phase of beats.

  • Beatgrid Adjust Feature

  • Is your beatgrid misaligned? Easily adjust it with one click.

  • Microphone Support

  • Streaming and club DJs alike will love this feature. Plug in your microphone and MC your show, all without the need for an external mixer.

  • Spinning Turntable Widgets and Waveform Scratching

  • Skins now come with juicy spinning turntables that you can scratch to your heart's delight.

  • If vinyl control is enabled, vinyl signal quality can also be rendered to the spinning widgets.

  • M4A Support for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users.

  • Mixxx previously could not support M4A on Windows due to licensing issues, but that restriction is now lifted with our new Windows Media Foundation M4A plugin. Mixxx on Mac OS X already supports M4A.

  • Library Improvements

  • Traktor Library Support.

  • New and improved Browse Mode.

  • Recording Improvements

  • Integrated with the library.

  • Automatically splits files into pieces to avoid large files.

  • CUE files of tracks played.

  • Much faster iTunes and Rhythmbox support.

  • Import and export of crates and playlists as M3U/PLS playlists.

  • Playlists and crates are lockable and rename-able.

  • Dragging to library sidebar auto-expands closed sections and is easier to aim.

  • Track play count is more accurately measured.

  • Reload track metadata from context menu in library.

  • Auto-scrolling in playlists is fixed.

  • Shuffle AutoDJ Queue feature.

  • Add Playlist to AutoDJ feature.

    Windows XP / Vista / 7:

    How to setup?

    Mac OSX:

Ensure you have installed all the programs listed in System Requirements.

On your iPhone, make sure you’re connected to the network. This can either be your router, or an ad-hoc network running from your Mac. If you’re getting slow response times using a router, try creating an ad-hoc network instead on your Mac to link your iPhone directly to your computer. Follow this guide if you want to create an ad-hoc network. To connect, press ‘Settings’ on the iPad, then ‘Wi-Fi’. From here you can choose from a list of available networks. Pick the one you’re using; either the router or the ad-hoc network you’ve just created.

Open TouchOSC Editor and upload the TouchOSC template to your iPhone by using the ‘Sync’ function. There’s a commonly reported problem of people having trouble uploading templates though TouchOSC editor. If you’re having trouble, hexler.net recommend that you try uploading the template to your iPhone using iTunes instead. Just connect to iTunes and drag and drop the template in. Once loaded, click the ‘Info’ button in TouchOSC and ensure that coreMIDI is enabled.

Open Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. If you can’t see the ‘MIDI Studio’ window, click Window > Show MIDI Window from the top menu. Double click the ‘Network’ icon and the ‘MIDI Network Setup’ window will appear. Select your iPad from the ‘Directory’ panel and click ‘Connect’. The default name for the network connection is ‘Session 1′. Change this to iPhone in the ‘Local Name’ field.

Open Traktor, go to ‘Preferences’, then ‘Controller Manager’. Click the large ‘Import’ button at the bottom of this screen and browse for the suitable TSI file (depending on whether you’re using Traktor 1 or Traktor 2). Ensure that MIDI In and MIDI Out on this screen are set to iPhone or whatever you named the network session in ‘MIDI Network Setup’.

    Windows:

Ensure you have installed all the programs listed in System Requirements.

It’s recommended that you connect to your PC via an ad-hoc network, rather than through a router. To do this on Windows 7, you can use Connectify for free. It turns your PC into a wireless hotspot. Follow this guide for Vista, and this guide for XP to set up an ad-hoc network on an earlier OS.

On your iPhone, make sure you’re connected to the network. This will either be your router, or the ad-hoc network you’d just set up and named. To connect, press ‘Settings’, then ‘Wi-Fi’. From here you can choose from a list of available networks. Pick the one you’re using; either the router or the ad-hoc network.

Download, install and run rtpMIDI. You should already see your computer name in the ‘My Sessions’ windows. If so, ensure the box is ticked. If not, click the + button then tick the box next to your computer’s name. Rename the network session to iPhone. You should also see the name of your iPad in the ‘Directory’ window. Click it to highlight and click ‘Connect’. The name of the iPhone should now be shown in the ‘Participants’ window.

Sorry all sales are final (no refund) but I'll do my very best to fix any problems you may have.
