When using the Hercules RMX I would get static kind of crackle sound from my speakers. This didn't ever happen with the original drivers on windows xp but now with a new laptop Hp DV5Z 1200 that came with Vista. I was experiencing very low quality audio. First it thought maybe it was the drivers so I installed old drivers and new drivers but still had the same problem. Then I thought maybe it was the usb cable. Nope tried many different once with the same static crackle audio.
So I went to the manufactures website looked up my laptop and found new drivers one that cought my eye was the AMD USB FILTER driver. This fixed my problems perfectly till I upgraded to Windows 7 and I started having the same problem. So I did like i did before and went to Hp's website and downloaded the AMD USB FILTER for Windows 7 but it didnt work. So I got on google and searched and searched and found a driver that did finally work with my Windows 7.
